Our trip to the beach yesterday was a success - only small amounts of sand were ingested and no one got sunburned.

Earlier this week, Hudson figured out how to climb on our coffee table; he was impossible to stop. Thankfully a couple of days later he learned how to properly get down.

Goggle Girl

Lately, Hanin has been impressing us with how quickly she figures out how to use particular objects. The latest: she grabbed Haden's swim goggles and attempted to put them on. She has never worn goggles herself (until now) and has only seen them on Haden a few times. We think it's a good look!

Yesterday it was gator for lunch, today it was Gator Falls at the zoo. We've been waiting at least a year and a half, and finally Haden is tall enough to conquer this ride.

The Birthday Cake

Although the cake festivities started out a little slow, all was quite successful in the end.

Birthday Lunch

We continued the birthday celebration yesterday by visiting a great little pizzeria for lunch.

Although all the babies were asleep at the start of the meal, seen here from outside the restaurant, everyone woke up in time to enjoy the tasty pies.

You might call pizza on your first birthday a family tradition for us. There's a story that says Carmen was fed pepperoni pizza on her first birthday by her dad which caused her mom to panic. Pizza evidently wasn't something you fed babies in the 1970's. :)

Happy Birthday, Babies!

We were so excited to be able to spend Hanin and Hudson's first birthday with their cousins Henry and Hadley, and with Aunt Kirsten, Uncle Jaron, KK and Grandpa in Moorhead, MN.

It was a fantastic day, filled with lots of fun for everyone!

The day started with a small gathering for breakfast, then we all enjoyed a bit of fresh air at Kirsten's school.
